C’est Vrai! Ralph Lauren Flagship Store Opens in Paris
5.9.10Ralph Lauren opened up his first flagship store (and restaurant!) in Paris’s historic Saint Germain district. At 23,000 square feet, it features the full men’s and women’s collections, as well as accessories.
‘I wanted to create a unique environment that captures the glamour, culture and the artistic spirit of the Paris that I have fallen in love with. Now, with this store opening, in the most romantic part of the city, I finally feel I have been able to tell my whole story in Paris.’ said Ralph Lauren.
Even if you’re not a fan of the clothes, go to check out the amazing 16th century architecture— the facade features classical French architecture in lime stone with carvings and ornaments. The interior is Rococo style, with ‘Versaille’ style flooring, plaster moulding and carvings.

The Making of a Chanel Commercial: Chance Eau Tendre
5.9.10Check out behind-the-scenes of the making of Chanel’s Chance commercial featuring Sigrid Agren and directed by Jean-Paul Goude. With philosophical undertones and a reminder to take chances when life presents us with them, this commercial reminds me of what I love about the French–the joie de vivre that’s often missing from American life.

Just Crop it: Elizabeth and James Tie-Dyed Tee
5.8.10I don’t know whether to be glad or horrified that cropped tops are back. I guess it depends on how many French fries I ate the night before, har. Anywhoo, I think they’re sexy and glad they’re mostly oversized (some enough to be worn off the shoulder).
I like this tie-dyed version from Elizabeth and James. Not only can it be worn with skinny jeans and heels, but you can pair it with a high-waisted skirt to cover any errant skin.

Wallpaper* Cover Design Contest
5.5.10
Wallpaper* magazine is giving you the chance to play art director for the day and custom-make your own Wallpaper* cover for the August issue.
You’ll join the ranks of Philippe Starck, Zaha Hadid and Anish Kapoor – all of whom are previous Wallpaper* cover artists.
Just register before the 17th May and Wallpaper*, in association with Rolex, will give you access to the special online cover application. Creative luminaries James Joyce, Nigel Robinson, Hort, Anthony Burrill and Kam Tang have contributed a wide selection of images, graphics and patterns for you to choose from. You can scale, rotate, colour and assemble these any way you like to create your masterpiece.
Your cover will front your own copy of the ‘Handmade’ special, an issue in which Wallpaper* has pushed the boundaries of bespoke design. They’ve commissioned their favourite designers, artists and craftsmen to create unique furniture, fittings, fashions and more – the fruits of which will be on show at the Brioni house in Milan during this year’s Salone del Mobile. But, for the cover, they’re handing the reins to you.
When you’ve perfected your design, Rolex will also invite your artistic direction on the back cover. You can choose from nine different Rolex advertising creatives to complete your personalized issue. This will arrive when your usual August issue is due.
Registration deadline: 17th May

Men’s Seasonal Necessities for a Springin’ Season
5.5.10For a smooth and effortlessly fashionable warm weather season, men (those lucky bastards!) don’t need nearly as many accoutrements as women do to look chic. Many men’s accessories and clothes also have staying power, so it’s generally OK to spend more on non-trendy items (and I don’t mean harem pants).
I chose a few key spring pieces that I would love my man (or any man that I have to look at on the street) to sport.
Let’s start with this great tailored shirt from A.P.C.. With a micro pattern and a curved shirttail hem, it’s sexy tucked in OR out.
Let the breeze blow through the hair on your legs with these casual long shorts from YMC with two extra long front pockets and a single back pocket.
To hold up the above shorts (just kidding), check out this skinny belt from Billykirk, a line of leather goods made primarily by Amish leather workers.
Instead of regular old Converse, these canvas high tops from Zuriik are dope, with an uneven top and zip closure.
To hold your very important papers, wallet and hair pomade, this Property Of bag is more than sufficient.
There’s no better way to keep track of time than with this classic gold watch from Timex.
And finally, to avoid all of the stares of admiration at your sartorial genius, I suggest these sunglasses from Grey Ant. With oversized retro styling, they’ll do more than just protect you from the sun.
