Wallpaper* magazine is giving you the chance to play art director for the day and custom-make your own Wallpaper* cover for the August issue.

You’ll join the ranks of Philippe Starck, Zaha Hadid and Anish Kapoor – all of whom are previous Wallpaper* cover artists.

Just register before the 17th May and Wallpaper*, in association with Rolex, will give you access to the special online cover application. Creative luminaries James Joyce, Nigel Robinson, Hort, Anthony Burrill and Kam Tang have contributed a wide selection of images, graphics and patterns for you to choose from. You can scale, rotate, colour and assemble these any way you like to create your masterpiece.

Your cover will front your own copy of the ‘Handmade’ special, an issue in which Wallpaper* has pushed the boundaries of bespoke design. They’ve commissioned their favourite designers, artists and craftsmen to create unique furniture, fittings, fashions and more – the fruits of which will be on show at the Brioni house in Milan during this year’s Salone del Mobile. But, for the cover, they’re handing the reins to you.

When you’ve perfected your design, Rolex will also invite your artistic direction on the back cover. You can choose from nine different Rolex advertising creatives to complete your personalized issue. This will arrive when your usual August issue is due.

1. Antonio Berardi showed a collection that ranged from wearable (Mad Men-inspired knee-length silhouettes with modern asymmetrical touches) to the mostly unwearable but still beautiful (sheer tops and dresses).

2. Fall florals in slightly lighter autumnal tones of rust and grey-blue ruled the Erdem runway, along with textured lace, tiered ruffles and prints of leaves and bird.

Roksanda Illincic shows a collection with pieces that were borne a marriage of the 40s and 70s, replete with fluid lines, drapey blouses and longer skirts and dresses.

Peter Pilotti’s design duo shows infinitely wearable and modern suits and separates with leather and tweed paneling, in addition to digitally-created subtle print jersey dresses.

Jonathan Saunders sent sporty modernity down the runway in incarnations of shiny paneling, fabric fringe and over-sized raincoats atop longer skirts (some with paper bag waistbands) and dresses.

Christopher Bailey’s mastery for Burberry Prorsum was live-streamed online AND available for pre-order instantaneously on the Burberry web site. No wonder–the coats and jackets were at the same time current and classic. If you missed the show, you can catch it again here.

For some reason, an esteemed blog such as Fashion Makes Me Horny didn’t get invited to all of the shows at New York Fashion Week last week. Why? Aren’t we along the same lines as Vogue, Elle and W? Anyway, lucky for us, we were able to sneak in with one of our photog friends at Jen Kao’s show at Milk Studios.

QVC threw a “Shop the Runway” event this past weekend during NYC’s Fashion Week in Bryant Park to celebrate the debut of Rachel Zoe’s eponymous line and Isaac Mizrahi’s ISAACMIZRAHILIVE! line. Shoppers could avoid the frustration of having to wait two seasons to buy what they see on the runway by new items straight from the tents!

Notable attendees: Rachel Zoe, Isaac Mizrahi, Busy Phillips from Cougar Town (who was wearing the cape below in black) and Kelly Rutherford from Gossip Girl.

Lessons learned from Kelly Cutrone’s new reality show, Kell on Earth.

1. Fashion is, like, the most important job in the world, it’s like war, as evidenced by the peace on earth and goodwill towards (gay) men and (skinny) women when a fashion show goes off without a hitch.

2. Kelly Cutrone’s one tough bitch with a heart of gold (e.g. trying to play fair godmother to her assistant by trying to set him up with one of her clients’ in-house models).

3. There’s a lot of talk of  the invites and seating arrangements, yet no one seems to know what’s going on. “That list” is equivalent in importance to the Dead Sea Scrolls.

4. If you’re in rows above three, you might as well go home and put your head in the oven, since you’re looked at as scum by rows one through three. (Kelly’s 7-year old daughter won’t even sit in the third row.)

5. You can get a pedicure while on a laptop without getting electrocuted.

6. Kelly’s never taken a brush to her hair or a lip gloss to her mouth.

7. The printing gods get a kick out of breaking down printers at the most critical moments–and hearing Kelly say “fuck” over and over.

You, too, can watch Marc Jacobs’ Fall/Winter 2010 fashion show without worrying about flying to NYC, bumping elbows with fasholes who steal your seat at the show, or dealing with Marc’s notorious inability to tell time–past shows have started late, early and seating snafus have left lots of celebs and notables out in the cold (literally).
