Men’s Seasonal Necessities for a Springin’ Season
5.5.10For a smooth and effortlessly fashionable warm weather season, men (those lucky bastards!) don’t need nearly as many accoutrements as women do to look chic. Many men’s accessories and clothes also have staying power, so it’s generally OK to spend more on non-trendy items (and I don’t mean harem pants).
I chose a few key spring pieces that I would love my man (or any man that I have to look at on the street) to sport.
Let’s start with this great tailored shirt from A.P.C.. With a micro pattern and a curved shirttail hem, it’s sexy tucked in OR out.
Let the breeze blow through the hair on your legs with these casual long shorts from YMC with two extra long front pockets and a single back pocket.
To hold up the above shorts (just kidding), check out this skinny belt from Billykirk, a line of leather goods made primarily by Amish leather workers.
Instead of regular old Converse, these canvas high tops from Zuriik are dope, with an uneven top and zip closure.
To hold your very important papers, wallet and hair pomade, this Property Of bag is more than sufficient.
There’s no better way to keep track of time than with this classic gold watch from Timex.
And finally, to avoid all of the stares of admiration at your sartorial genius, I suggest these sunglasses from Grey Ant. With oversized retro styling, they’ll do more than just protect you from the sun.

Standard Summer Fedora
5.3.10This faux straw fedora from Alloy is cute and, at $16.90, cheap enough to be the throwaway one-season trend that it is.

Third Limited-Edition Barbie by Christian Louboutin on Net-A-Porter
4.29.10I don’t know why, but I WANT THIS! Christian Louboutin’s third Barbie, Anemone Barbie, debuted on Net-A-Porter yesterday, and dare I say, she is adorable! She comes wearing chartreuse and purple and comes with FOUR pairs of mini Louboutins, each with shoe box and bag.
Her bow is designed by Louboutin’s personal bow maker in Paris. Fancy!
What does it mean, though, if your Barbie has more Louboutins than you do?

WANT: Dainty Lace Ankle Socks
4.28.10My constant shoe obsession has taken a backseat to my current obsession with dressing up my shoes with a variety of ankle socks–from lace to mesh. NYC-based and woman-owned sock company Sock Theory sells the most adorable (and inexpensive!) variety.
My favorite for spring would be ankle socks that remind me of the lace ones I used to wear as a young lass. There’s just something so innocently sexy about a little bit of lace peeking out from your t-strap or peep-toe heels while wearing a cute sundress.
When we move into fall, there’s no reason not to bring these lovelies along to wear under peep-toe booties or oxfords!
For $5 to $10, you really can’t go wrong. And, for a limited time, get 10% off any purchase of $25 or more with coupon code ST4FMMH at www.socktheory.com.

LUST: Martin Margiela 11 Artistic Paper Zip Wallet
4.27.10For those of you who like carrying around a work of art in their back pockets or purses, check out the Martin Margiela 11 leather zip wallet with an abstract scratched paper application on the front. Even though it’s a men’s wallet, I would love to carry something that inspires me every time I pull out my oft-used credit card.

Backtacular: Butt Crack Fashion
4.19.10Yes, this is no joke. A company called Kimberlily sell an item called Backtacular, which, according to its web site, is a “gluteal cleft patch” which covers up the crack while wearing low rise jeans.
You have your choice of peace signs, fleur de lis, hearts, chandeliers and the oh-so-classy butterfly. Tell me, would you actually buy this product or maybe just wear better-fitting clothes?

Accessories on the Fringe
4.17.10Fringe isn’t generally something I like a whole lot of. I feel like too much (i.e. on the back of a suede jacket in a V-formation or down the sides of jeans) makes you look like you belong on the back of a Hell’s Angel’s motorcycle or that you dropped a whole lot of peyote.
A little fringe, on the other hand, can look fresh and update an otherwise boring outfit. Let’s see, shall we?
I ADORE this Jimmy Choo Tita Fringe Clutch! The snake-embossed leather with suede woven detail on the bottom corner makes it surprisingly modern.
To fringe your feet, check out DV Dolce Vita’s Aventura sandal. The braided strap and stud detail will have you saying “Yee haw!”
To dress up a plain tank top dress, try adding this black fringe necklace by CCC. You may not be riding a horse, but country chic is now city necessary!

I Want To Be a Chanel Gangster Rapper
4.5.10…Or at least look like one. What Goes Around Comes Around‘s collection of vintage Chanel pieces will have you rocking a larger-than-life persona with accessories to match! Check out this vintage 80s Chanel oversized quilted pendant that will up your “it” factor sky high.
How amazing is this? Wear with a tank and bodycon bandage skirt and prepare to wow! -
Jungle Fever: Go Wild With Tribal Prints!
4.4.10Admittedly, I’m not a huge fan of anything tribal or Aztec (especially after that Mel Gibson movie, Apocalypto) or even Southwest (is New Mexico still a state, BTW?). Anyway, tribal and ikat prints are making their way onto dresses, shoes and even bags this season. I’m not 100% convinced just yet, but after some meditating with my animal spirit and channelling my inner Native American, I might be ready for this trend!

Issey Miyake’s VUE Watch Doesn’t Really Tell Time
3.23.10Check out this cool new conceptual–meaning not really super functional, since it only shows the hour–VUE watch, designed for fashion’s Issey Miyake by Yves Behar’s fuseproject design studio.
Clean lines and numbers that blur as it goes from one hour to the next, it serves to remind us that time is an artificial construct (which is what I suggest telling your boss when you breeze in 20 minutes late).

Obsession With All Things Gold- Foley + Corinna Wrapped Chain Leather Crossbody Bag
3.2.10My obsession with gold lately has extended itself to bags. No longer satisfied with carrying the occasional gold clutch, I’m now in love with a bag I can tolerate seeing daily–Foley + Corinna’s leather and gold mesh (!) crossbody bag. Combine gold mesh (where have you been all my life, by the way?) and sleek glazed leather with a chain/leather strap and call me yours.
