DESIGNER ALERT: Rodebjer Now at An Urban Outfitters Near You
8.13.10Rodebjer, the eponymous line by Swedish designer Carin Rodebjer, has made the jump from boutique and Gen Art darling to mass market with her fall line being sold at Urban Outfitters, Revolve Clothing and Pixie Market. Sleek, strong and contemporary, yet with a timeless feel, items from Rodebjer are modern tinged with classic styling. All I have to say is I LIKEY!
Check out some of my favorite looks from the A/W 2010 Collection:

UM, I Like Your Bag: Um Tote Bag by Josh Jakus at HOLSTEE
8.11.10Check out this awesome Um Tote Bag designed by Josh Jakus and curated by the eco-heros at Holstee. Made from grey wool felt (factory dead-stock, so stays true to conscience design) and transformed from a flat surface.
And if responsible design doesn’t warm your heart, then check out the Holstee Manifesto below, which warmed mine:

Your Chest Isn’t the Only Thing that Needs Lifting: The ShapeFX Bra with Shoulder Pads
8.10.10Sometimes your shoulders sag along with the girls. In such cases, ShapeFX, the wizards of all things shapewear, have introduced the ingenious shoulder pad bra. This bra adds shape to jackets and blouses and evens out pear shapes in a Cris Angel-type optical illusion. Because if the shoulders are bigger, the ass looks smaller. Viola! All kidding aside, I actually really like this bra and can see it adding shape to certain garments. Good job, ShapeFX!

DEAL OF THE DAY: Kensie Elbow-Sleeved Utility Dress
8.9.10This adorable dress from Kensie, featuring the oh-so-current-for-fall neutral tone and utility details like an asymmetrical snap placket, vertical exposed zippers, and drawstring ties is on sale for only $32.99 at Lord & Taylor, with an additional 20% off!
Wear it bare-legged through the end of summer, then wear with tights, boots and a cardi for fall. Tres cheap, yet tres chic!

VIDEO: Lady Gaga Fashion Short Film for Dazed Digital
8.8.10Check out this space-agey short fashion film for Dazed Digital marrying Lady Gaga’s unique fashion sensibility with the abstractness of a fashion film. She rocks two outfits–one somewhat wearable black dress with fringe and one more typical Gaga with football player shoulder pads on top of a superhero outfit. Enjoy!

WANT: Swedish Hasbeens Leather Shoulder Bag
8.5.10This large leather shoulder bag from Swedish Hasbeens (incidentally, the best brand name EVER) is everything you want in an everyday bag: sleek, minimal, roomy and retro-stylish. According to their website, it’s inspired by “an old hunting bag that was popular in the hippie 70s.”
The leather is untreated and softens and ages over time for a natural distressed look.
It comes in several colors, including black, red, nature (off-white), cognac and mustard–my favorite!

COOL COLLAB ALERT: JOSS STONE x Nine West Vintage America Shoe Collection
8.2.10Joss Stone, one of our favorite free-spirited songstresses, has teamed up with Nine West to create a limited-edition collection for their Vintage America Collection. Predictably bohemian, outdoorsy and feminine, the two models feature either taupe or black suede, faux shearling trim and braid (on the over-the-knee boot) or studs (on the bootie).
Available in-store and online 9/21.

HARNESSES, Not Just for Horses Anymore: Harness Jewelry
8.2.10You need not be a dominatrix to sport the rising harness trend in jewelry. A few popped up on the Fall/Winter 2010/11 runways during both London and New York Fashion Weeks in leather, taking inspiration from Bliss Lau, the pioneer of body jewelry. Worn over tanks, drapey sweaters and even jackets and dresses, harnesses add a bit of primitive style to an outfit otherwise best kept simple.
Available at ASOS.
