I’m all about white dresses and not just for weddings, either. You can at least PRETEND you’re angelic by wearing white. Speaking of white, one of my friends used to wear white and swore up and down that it attracted men to her like bees to honey. Now, she’s married with an adorable baby and attributes it to wearing white. Hey, whatever works! Downing vodka tonics, sticking to dark-lit places and winking incessantly generally works for me (until the guy thinks I have a weird tic and backs away slowly). Back to the white dresses, I found a lot of cute ones, and at different price points.

Things to consider when buying a white dress: Make sure it’s lined or the material is sturdy enough not to be see-through. Wear NUDE underwear, not white. White shows. Nude doesn’t. If you’re shorter than 5’3” if you wear anything with too much eyelet or too many ruffles, you’ll look like a little girl. Stick to clean lines and few details.

Dress it down during the day with ballet flats or dress it up at night with nude or metallic heels. At $44 from Nordstrom, you can’t really go wrong.

Alexander Wang’s T by Alexander Wang line breathes new life into basics at a lower price point. His $92 t-shirt dress exemplifies California cool (whatever that is). Wear with gladiator sandals or geometric wedge sandals.

This deconstructed, asymmetrical dress from Calvin Klein Collection features a single puff sleeve, soft structure and nude lining, so you can go commando if you so fancy. At $1995, it’s a bit hefty, but it’s also straight from the runway.
