I love Rachel McAdams and think  she’s absolutely beautiful and vibrant, but I think her hairstyle on the cover of January’s Vogue, while going for a retro Hollywood glam look, actually results in her looking older than her years. What’s Market Publique you ask? An eBay of sorts for vintage fashion and if you haven’t already gotten your holiday dress, hold off from buying one of the designer diffusion line dresses from H&M or Target or Uniqlo that everyone else will be wearing and get a one-of-a-kind vintage dress from Market Publique. Speaking of wearing the same dress as everyone else, one year, I bought a Viktor & Rolf pale pink pouffy party dress from H&M, and I saw no fewer than THREE girls wearing it the same night I wore it! Really?!

I’m really loving creative neckwear these days and have found some amazing pieces from coast to coast. Chunky necklaces using a variety of materials from plastics to rhinestones to metals combine to create hanging works of art, but these works of art hang not in a gallery or museum, but around your neck. I found the following necklace at Pinky Otto in New York. It never fails to get loads of compliments every time it’s worn! Don’t fret my non-NYC lovelies–they have locations in Boston and LA, too!

I also recently attended Thread, an independent fashion and design event, and found some amazingly creative wares. Checkedy check it out.  Micha Kuechenhoff, the German-born designer of Micha Design makes some crazy chunky necklaces that have made their way into Nylon, Riviera and Women’s Wear Daily, amongst others. She brings together chains, feathers, brooches and more to create one-of-a-kind pieces that you can throw on with a wifebeater, jeans and heels for instant chic.

Another treasure found was an adorable and eccentric line called Unstandard Deviations. Jennie Hinkle, the line’s designer, uses polystyrene (a thermoplastic) and and impressions of unique and vintage images to create eye-catching conversation pieces (necklaces, bracelets and more). Not sure why Anthropologie hasn’t picked up her line yet! I think the pieces are fab and you can find them on Etsy. She also takes custom orders.

Well, maybe not an insider’s look, since they didn’t actually let me INSIDE the American Apparel factory in downtown LA. Apparently, you have to be an employee with credentials. Whatever.

Anyway, I went down to the factory since they’re supposed to have an outlet store on the premises. They did, but I can’t say the deals were all that great except for a few scattered deals like shiny gold pants with zippers down the sides for $10 and spring t-shirt dresses for $15.  I ended up getting a cranberry tank and some over-the-knee opaque stockings. Since they didn’t let me in, I took a few shots of the exterior. It was almost like being on the grounds of Charlie’s Chocolate Factory, except Charlie’s a pervert named Dov Charney and the Oompa Loompas are all Mexican. (No offense to all my Mexican peeps!)

 Do they not let the employees off the premises for lunch because Immigration Services is waiting to bust everyone? Is that why they’re behind the “Legalize LA” campaign? I have to say, the gov’t needs to realize that California’s shaky economy really depends on immigrant workers, legal and illegal, so if someone like Charney has they’re back, by all means reform immigration! Who else is going to make slutty tanks (like the one I got) and assless tights? Seriously.

 This sign outside the factory store quoting JFK almost made me tear up. Almost.

I doubt JFK had American Apparel in mind when he said this but still relevant.

 I definitely recommend a trip to the American Apparel factory in downtown LA just to check out the headquarters of skeeviness and to stock up on the basics.

As we’re smack-dab in the middle of football season, it’s a no-no not to be dressed in some sort of football-inspired gear or in your favorite team’s jersey. We here at FMMH think a bit differently. Hey, if you have to watch football, it may as well be in something sexy! Let’s check out some styles that will definitely get you flagged.

If you concerned yourself with yards thrown rather than impregnating Gisele (who, in interviews, says she feels like your son’s real mother–never mind he already has a real mother–dumb bitch) you guys might deserve your rabid fans’ irrational adoration. BTW, I hate your coach.

Broncos Thongs

The Broncos can suck it, but hey, I feel kind of sorry for them so I suggest their fans wear these comfortable looking thongs (maybe all at once, since it’s so damn cold at that elevation).
