Target’s All-Star Lineup Continues…..with Rodarte!
8.5.09According to British Vogue, Target is collaborating with Rodarte this December as the latest in its Go International series. This really rocks the house, since the Rodarte sisters won the coveted CFDA Womenswear of the Year award and their shit usually costs four figures!

Fabulous and Ethereal!
Deets: 55 holiday pieces, dresses and separates, priced from $9.99 to $79.99
Launches: December 20 to last through February 6th
Our suggestion: Park yourself in front of the computer to buy online the minute it launches (the way you do with Gilt Groupe, which, incidentally clocked the fastest shopping transaction at nine (yes, NINE) seconds from log on to purchase, according to Susan Lyne, chief executive at Gilt) OR take a nice day trip to New Jersey or Delaware or pretty much anywhere EXCEPT NYC. The girls here are fashion wolves and attempting to snag any Rodarte clothes the “normal” way by walking into a Target, removing them from the racks and taking them to the cash register is not. gonna. happen. What WILL happen is the doors will open, the girls who work at Lizzie Grubman PR (who never miss a spin class and who’ve already studied the Target floor plan) will run, trip you on the way, and (in tandem) grab whole racks and take them to one of their colleagues who’s already waiting at the register. They’ll have their Rodarte and you’ll have shin bruises and a possible head wound.

Perfect for a Holiday Party!
Merry Christmas from Target!

Lilly Allen Gets a New Gig

What are your thoughts on Uncle Karl’s newest muse? The likeliest choice? No. We have to admit we are kinda digging this ad campaign, albeit airbrushed to high heaven. We’ll play along for now, Karl, and pretend we forgot about this.

Bryant Park vs. Milk Studios- Which One Will Win Fashion Week?
8.4.09Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Bryant Park has a hipper, younger competitor in the form of M.A.C.’s show space at Milk Studios (which is an effen’ AMAZING space!) in the Meatpacking District. While MB charges a minimum of 25K to show, M.A.C.’s space is free.
Check out the list of prominent designers at MB Fashion Week:
Michael Angel, BCBGMAXAZRIA, Duckie Brown, Ports 1961, Cesar Galindo, Cynthia Steffe, Yigal Azrouel, Charlotte Ronson, Nicole Miller, This Day/Arise: African Fashion Collective, Venexiana, Lacoste, Georges Chakra, Andy & Debb, Academy of Art University, Christian Siriano, Chado Ralph Rucci, Vivienne Tam, Lela Rose, Derek Lam, DKNY, Thuy, Hervé Léger by Max Azria, Diane Von Furstenberg, Rebecca Taylor, Tuleh, Custo Barcelona, Carolina Herrera, Carlos Miele, Jill Stuart, Tracy Reese, Donna Karan, Yeohlee, Tadashi Shoji, TonyCohen, Gottex, Badgley Mischka, Brian Reyes, Toni Maticevski, Pamella Roland, MAX AZRIA, Dennis Basso, Willow, Tibi, Narciso Rodriguez, Toni Francesc, Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Nanette Lepore, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Milly by Michelle Smith, Alexandre Herchcovitch, Anna Sui, Doo.Ri, Ralph Lauren, Isaac Mizrahi, Trias, Calvin Klein, Chocheng, Argentinean Designer Collections and Tommy Hilfiger.

Bryant Park
M.A.C.’s space has attracted a slew of hip downtown labels such as:
Adam Lippes, Alexander Wang, Altuzarra, Band of Outsiders, Barbara Tfank, Costello Tagliapietra, Erin Fetherston, Pamela Love, Peter Som, Preen, Proenza Schouler, Temperley London, Vena Cava and threeASFOUR.

Milk Studios
With 80,000 square feet of space, two runway venues and young designers clamoring for spots, Milk Studios promises to up the “hip” factor and throw loads of parties, which sounds–oh, I don’t know, super-duper fabulous!?! And–not that we partook 500 times last Fashion Week–the McDonald’s Cafe plying the tent attendees with free coffee kind of made Fashion Week seem well, ordinary, and took away a bit of its slightly inaccessible allure. It’s as if MB was your mom’s Fashion Week (a little Bergdorf’s) and MAC’s was yours (a little badass!). We shall see what happens come September!

Nordstrom Rack Coming to Union Square!
8.4.09
Goodbye Virgin, Hello Nordstrom Rack!
The rumors are true, Nordstrom Rack will be taking over the space formerly known as the Virgin Megastore. We predict this will not fair well for discount neighbor Filene’s basement, as the selection at Nordstrom Rack is far superior. Apparently “The Rack” will be making discount duds available to us by this spring. I’m pumped!

The One-Dress was designed by over 1000 women from across the world via social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and ASmallWorld. Mal Sirrah Creative Director, Malcolm Harris curated the project over eighteen months by interacting with women and asking them about their dreams and lifestyles in relation to a dress. Besides the obvious fabulosity of this chameleon of a dress, you can feel good about this purchase because a portion of proceeds go to benefit Womankind Worldwide and KIVA.ORG. The dress is $300 from one-dress.com.
