Intermix Sample Sale Report: $19 Leather Pants?
8.28.09My amazing blog partner hit up TWO major sample sales today: Intermix and Barney’s. While Barney’s didn’t retain any of its first day shitshow qualities, it still disappointed with no scores in site (mind you, they add more merch. near the end of the sale, so no need to stand in line).
Intermix decided to blow minds with NINETEEN DOLLAR LEATHER PANTS AND NINETEEN DOLLAR BOOTS AND SHOES! Did I mention that they were NINETEEN dollars? My blog partner graced me with two pairs of leather pants–one from Golde and one from Elizabeth and James, the Olsen twins line. (Because I need TWO pair of leather pants for work.
) And, oh yeah, $300 Michael Kors knee-high leather wedge boots. Wow. We don’t have photos of the leather pants but we sure do have photos of happy, happy shoes!
Hi, will you adopt us?

Shiny, happy and $19!

Former model Todd Anthony Tyler has blossomed into an amazing photographer, as you can see in these sweltering photos. I took out the NSFW pics so we don’t get you in trouble with your boss again! But if you want to see them click here. To learn more about this genius click here. Warning Todd is pretty hot himself so I recommend grabbing a cool beverage before you go googling him ladies.

FMMH Hearts Ronson and Shoshanna
8.26.09
Charlotte Ronson and Shoshanna Gruss
Last night, at Housing Works’ Editor’s Choice charity shopping event hosted by Allure’s Fashion Director Michael Carl, we had the pleasure of chatting with Charlotte Ronson and Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss about their swimsuit collaboration and a certain NY Times columnist’s opinions about JC Penney. They were both super cool even though we were quite jealous that Shoshanna was sporting the Alexander McQueen clutch of our dreams! (And of our bank accounts nightmares.)
FMMH: So, I wanted to ask you a few questions…
Shoshanna: (looks at our business card and seems a bit wary of our name. Maybe thinks questions will be sexual in nature?)
FMMH: I swear they are all PG-13!
Shoshanna: (laughing) Alright. Alright.
FMMH: I wanted to ask you about your bathing suit line. You both have done bathing suits on your own and now you have Made With Love together…
Shoshanna: Yeah it’s something we kinda kicked around and talked about and it kind of came together quickly…and we started a line together. There is a lot of crossover with our customers too.
FMMH: Is this a one-time collaboration or are you going to continue with this line?
Shoshanna: We just kind of went with it to see how it would go. We had a little more time to plan it and do it the right way.
Charlotte: We finished our second collection!
FMMH: (to Charlotte) Is it going to be sold in your boutique or it a separate project to be sold somewhere else?
Charlotte/Shoshanna: Yeah! Also at Shopbop, Bloomingdale’s, Saks Fifth Avenue and a lot of small boutiques. A lot of the same places we sell our collections. Which is nice because we get to diversify a little bit.
FMMH: (To Charlotte) So you interned at Rolling Stone, Harper’s Bazaar and Cynthia Rowley. Which was your favorite experience?
Charlotte: Rolling Stone was the first, so I was young and getting coffee was fun. I thought it was a real grown-up job. I mean they all were fun. I worked at Harper’s Bazaar and that’s where I realized I want to get into the design aspect. Then I went to Cynthia Rowley where I was able to get experience and be a little more hands on.
FMMH: So what do you think about the Cintra Wilson debacle? About what she wrote for the NY Times about JC Penney?
Shoshanna: What? I read the NY Times everyday and I haven’t heard about this. What was it?
FMMH: It’s all over The Cut, basically she wrote an article for the NY Times that was very negative about JC Penney and there has been an uproar all over the country of women writing in. She said the mannequins were obese.
Charlotte: When it comes to sizing. I know I fit. Right now I am wearing an I Heart Ronson dress from JC Penney and it’s a small. (Note: Charlotte is very small, so this seems accurate)
FMMH: We just bought a dress of yours and it fits perfectly, so we are happy!!

The Best Make-Up To Wear to Fang-tasia This Weekend
8.24.09So I was checking out Anna Paquin (aka Sookie) on David Letterman today and started thinking about all the vamp-mania as of late. I predict the beauty trend for Fall will be dark, goth-y, and vampire-approved!

MAC Style Black Collection
The second picture kind of just looks like a flat black color, you could easily get the Wet N Wild version of for way cheaper. (BTW isn’t “Wet n Wild” the most porny name ever for make-up?) Speaking of porn-type stuff..(that’s called a seamless transition, folks
) if you are not content to just look like a vampire, but would like to get uhh..intimate with one, may I recommend this. (Is this what my blog-ner means when she says I go too far?)This post was brought to you by our sponsor parentheses.

Necklaces Pop Up Where We Least Expect Them!!
8.24.09If you have a death wish (or a ripped earlobe wish) I recommend this Dechel rendition:

Photo: 80spurple.com
For $53 you can both look like a fool and score another visit with your hot plastic surgeon. (I say this because my friend ripped her lobes and had them reconstructed by a ridiculously hot doc. You know who you are.) And next on our list we have some fun tops from Haute Hippie (btw nearly everything they design makes us horny!) :

If you were reading one of those”recession” blogs right now, we might say something like “And you can take the necklace OFF the shirt, and wear it with a completely different outfit!” But you’re not, so we won’t.

Lustworthy Item Alert- Summertime Suede Alaia Gloves!
8.23.09You may think I’m insane for suggesting suede gloves for the summer, but trust me, these are SOOOOO badass that’s you’ll be jumping on the “gloves in the summertime” trend faster than Rachel Zoe can run to the bathroom to purge the five leaves of lettuce she had for lunch (butter lettuce IS higher in calories, you know). First thing–these are made by the legendary Azzedine Alaia–meaning they’re really an investment (better than the Vegas condo you bought in 2004 for 300K, expected to flip in a year for 500K, except now it’s worth 210K, but I digress). Second–you can buy them in pounds sterling or in euros–so you feel chic just buying them (until you figure out you don’t know the exchange rate and find out you paid $500). Find them on the Eurochic web site (discovered by my ever-vigilant blog partner) called Matches.

Imagine wearing these with a cute strapless floral dress to give it a rock ‘n roll edge or a grey jersey shift to add an interesting dimension to its minimalism. OR, for the daring ones out there, just wear them with a black bra and panty set from Agent Provocateur for your significant (label-appreciating) other.

Apparently, I have a pair of shoes that go perfectly (hand in glove, har har) with these gloves–checky here:

Ripped Leggings–Easy Access Redefined
8.23.09Even though some fashion experts are declaring leggings dead, we here at FMMH just can’t quit them! The latest incarnation involves lots of skin (no objections here) and strategic slashes. So far, though, I’ve only seen one fat chick in Queens rocking them and had to turn my eyes away. However, I’m optimistic that NYC’s fabulous women will pair them with tunic tops and boots for early fall. Shopbop.com has some AMAZING ones and depending on how you like it, you can pick from big slashes, little slashes–and in the case of Lady Gaga and her custom-made shredded leggings from Mark and Estel–amazingly obscene slashes!

The key is to wear them with a contrasting conservative top or jacket. Keep the girls covered, otherwise you may just be seen as trying out at Scores’ amateur night.

From the woman who brought you goop, comes a small capsule collection of jersey and cotton separates that take you from lounging around to taking the town by storm (with the right accessories of course). Although I think the gray one-piece would even make Miranda Kerr look like she could stand to lose a few, if you stick to Gwen’s macrobiotic diet you my be able to pull it off.
You can purchase the whole collection starting Monday August 24th on matchesfashion.com. -

How Did I Miss THIS Job Audition?
8.19.09Yeah, so, anyone with eyes can’t miss the Calvin Klein ads splashing the subway stations and featuring Eva Mendes and my future husband, Jamie Dornan. We noted the hotness and inappropriately arousing moisturizer a while back. Admittedly, I don’t think people wear CK clothes much anymore, but the underwear, YES, PLEASE!

So, if you see a couple of crazy girls dropping their skirts in the Union Square subway station, please note: it’s not just the temperature!
