Anna Sui, Target and Gossip Girl…OH MY!
6.30.09So as many of you already know Anna Sui’s collection for Target debuts this September, and she says her inspiration for the collection is the glorious Gossip Girl series. We chose a few of our favorite looks to share with you. As is the case on the show, the Vanessa inspired looks fall flat. Ugh! Vanessa is my least favorite character, she annoys the shit out of me. Anyway on with the show…

The Vanessa Inspired Frocks
If I inspired this level of fuggery, I would excuse myself from the show immediately. Hint, hint, V. The Jenny collection is not as bad, but I preferred Jenny before she went all rock and roll on us.

Inspired by Little J
The dress on the left is AWFUL, but I think it’s something that Jenny would actually wear. Luckily the black dress redeems the Jenny collection. I long for the days when Jenny was trying to fit in with the queen bees and hence dressing better. The last time I saw Taylor Momsen was at the Anna Sui show in Feb, and in real life she dresses just like rocker Jenny, the red lipstick and all and homegirl is SKINNY. Now let’s discuss the girls on the show that actually know how to dress: Serena and my favorite–Blair!!

Blue Dress=Blair Silver Dress=Serena
I love, love, love the blue dress and the silver one looks as though it may look cheap in person, but I will have to wait until September to know for sure. My favorite dress is the first one in the next photo and ,of course, it’s a Blair.
Ignore the hideous last three outfits, the white one is the only one you have to worry about. Isn’t it lovely? Oh, Blair, we can always count on you. Not to spoil a good here, but the journalistic wizards known as Nylon magazine have another idea about where Ms. Sui may have pulled her inspiration from: previous collections dating back before Gossip Girl was even on the air! -

The always jovial Karl Lagerfeld
If I had access to all the Chanel I could ever want, you better believe there would be a smile plastered on my face. Oh Karl, you eternal pessimist.

A Peek at the Jimmys
6.28.09
Are these bitches even leather?
So, these are the Choos that will be in select H&M stores November 14th. (I marked my calender:) I hope they have more options then just these! I am also really curious to see what the quality is like, because $160 is cheap for Jimmy Choos, but not if they suck! Also, since Jimmy Choo sample sale prices hover around $275 for a pair of REAL ones, I think we’d rather just fork over the extra $100. I also heard he will be designing clothes for them as well!! Muy interesante! What next? Chanel for Bebe?

Bravo’s “Fashion Show” Finale, Replete with Housewives Galore!
6.26.09
Isaac Mizrahi, Andy Cohen, unidentified white woman and Kelly Rowland
Fashion Makes Me Horny was lucky enough to be invited to attend the season finale taping of Bravo’s “The Fashion Show” at Cipriani Wall Street and what a show it was! Most of the Real Housewives of New York AND New Jersey were there! Be still my heart! Love, love, love them! AND, we sat second row across from the Housewives (and behind their teenage daughters)! Never mind the finalists’ designs, the real action was in the audience!

Isaac interviewing
Never mind Isaac thinks we’re obnoxious from previous encounters, we think his “I’m a fashion gangsta with a bumpin’ fashion line at Target” bandanna is obnoxious! (Kelly Rowland was super-nice and looked hot, though.)

The fantastical Betsey Johnson
Betsey Johnson was such a quirky, wonderful sprite of a woman! She asked our opinion on what she should do for her next fashion show. REALLY? You’re asking US?? Oh, yeah–we’re (self-appointed) fashion experts, I forgot.

OMG, The Real Housewives of New Jersey and New York!
I can’t handle all these Housewives at once! We were about to explode with joy and do an ass-shaking happy dance, but contained ourselves and acted like “professional journalists”. We waited to ass shake outside, though. They looked great (especially Dina and Caroline from NJ). Alex McCord from New York was as charming and gracious as always!
So, what’s the point of this post? Oh, yeah–the actual show. Honesty, only three were memorable and not all in a good way. Anna McCraney’s collection of feminine dresses with an edge and Johnny Rodriguez’s collection of architectural leggings, jumpers and jackets with fringe and tinsel really rocked our world, however our eyes are still searing from Merlin Castell’s wanna-be space cadet collection with the models rocking orange hair and costumey dresses in shiny fabric and with weird shoulder pads and cape-like, puffy collars.
Anywhoo, don’t miss the season finale for all the action July 23rd!

House of Diehl = House of (Fab Vintage) Steals!
6.24.09
I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the vintage treasures at House of Diehl–a fashion house known for their style war competitions where the designers are given scant time to create a work of sartorial art and send it down a runway. Having to unload the latest from their London style wars, they decided to have a sale in their Tribeca studio. Using my charm and promises of coverage, I managed to snag a couple of vintage dresses that will come in handy during NYC’s garden party season where the champagne flows and parasols twirl!

Tie Dye Tutorial
6.24.09Take out your notebooks, because class is in session! The tie dye trend has come back around, so it’s paramount we discuss some of the do’s and don’ts of this colorful new trend. First we will start with an absolute DON”T:

This does NOT make us horny
Under NO circumstances is this an acceptable way to get on board with the trend. Honestly, I googled tie dye and almost peed myself when I saw this dress!! But hideous tie dye tragedies are not just for hippies, as evidenced by this celeb in desperate need of a stylist:

Why Drew? WHY!??!?
Something about the Mac guy makes Drew gravitate toward fug frocks. Get a PC Drew! Hopefully, I have not burned your corneas too severely and you will be able to take in part two of today’s lesson: Tie Dye Done Right.

Cynthia Rowley
Leave it to Cynthia to make tie dye look gorgeous. We had the honor of meeting Cynthia at her store a few months ago and not only does she design great dresses but she also knows how to wear the hell out of them. Cynthia moves to the head of the class. But if your looking to incorporate tie dye into your evening wear, D&G has you covered:

Tie Dye Perfection
This Dolce Gabbana confection will leave everyone green with envy, and you with a lot less green. The moral of this story is, when it comes to tie dye proceed with caution. Class is dismissed.

Roberto Cavalli Sample Sale
6.23.09So we headed over to the Roberto Cavalli sample sale today and took a few pics to show you what they have:

We're not quite sure what to make of these hats.....
We tried these on and couldn’t determine if we looked fierce or ridic. I’m leaning towards ridic. The shoe department held better prospects for us.

The shoes cost about $230 with the discount

Not all the shoes were gems...just most
Looking for a a tacky sequin bag? You’ve come to the right place. Hey, there’s a reason this label is popular with Euro-trash.

And the crowning jewel of the sale is this a-m-a-z-i-n-g skirt.

Whoop there it is!
Here’s the info my little lambs:

Sad, sad day for fans of the CK billboard
6.22.09
Confirmed: NYC has turned into suburbia. Due to loud complaints from possibly the Palin “David Letterman is a child molester” camp, the beloved white hot (threesome? foursome?) is now a no-some. Replaced by the lovely Doutzen Kroes, alas, it is still no replacement for the much-needed salaciousness (hello, it’s a recession-let’s get our mind off our financial woes by focusing on group sex in non- air-conditioned conditions!). We say, “Boo.” -
D & G
6.20.09Some of the fuggest items currently at the D & G sample sale:
